Busy weekend!

We had a busy long weekend this past week! We started our weekend early on Thursday and took Cora Leigh to the pediatrician for her 6-month checkup. She weighed 15 pounds, 12.5 ounces (42nd percentile), was 26 inches long (53rd percentile), and had a head circumference of 43 cm (62nd percentile). Dr. Gillispie was very pleased with her growth and said that she looked great! She got pretty angry when she got her shots (and the nurse was a little slow for our taste...), but she really got over it pretty fast - within a couple of minutes. We decided to travel to Tennessee after her appointment and were a little nervous about how that was going to go. She did great!! She did sleep for a while. When she woke up, it was about time to eat, so we stopped at a McDonald's where we took in her Bumbo seat so we could feed her her cereal. She was extremely distracted, but we managed to get her to eat most of her cereal. We learned that it's not a good idea to sit close to the bathroom - too many people walking by! :) We had a very good weekend back home and got to spend some good quality time with our families. We also got to go to my best friend's baby shower and be home to celebrate my sister's birthday! Although hectic, it was a really great weekend. We only wished we had more time. It was especially fun to get to see our adorable niece, Hayden, and how she's grown in the last month since we had seen her last! We do wish that our baby girls didn't live 5 hours from each other... Oh, and other big news, Cora Leigh rolled over for the first time on Monday, March 29th! One minute she was doing tummy time; the next she was laying on her back! We were starting to wonder if it was going to happen! :) Here are some pics from the weekend.

More fun with Cora Leigh

Cora Leigh is continuing to be more and more active and interactive. She has really started enjoying her jumperoo, although we still have to put a book underneath her. She can barely reach the floor with her tip toes now, so it probably won't be long until she's able to jump from the floor. She loves to spin the rattle thing on the front and grab the vegetables from their strings and knock them off. At the bottom of this blog entry is a video of Daddy acting silly with her while she was in her jumperoo. They were having a blast!

We also watch Joshua for Andy and Dana last weekend. I referred to him as Cora's boyfriend, but her daddy already doesn't appreciate that kind of talk very much. :) We had a really fun evening. Joshua just turned one year old, so he was walking around and seeing what he could get into! He was really interested in the cats until one of them started walking toward him. Poor guy must have thought that kitty was trying to attack! As the evening progressed, he warmed up more to the cats, but he and Hazel never really made friends. I think she was too big for him - their dog is much smaller. Joshua really made our babysitting experience easy. He was such a good boy!

Cora Leigh is still doing well. We're starting to actually settle into somewhat of a schedule!! Most days we have cut back to 5 feedings, so she's going between 3 and 3 1/2 hours between feedings. That has been a nice change - much more time to get things done before time to nurse again. We actually ran some errands and went shopping just the two of us yesterday. That's the first time we've gone shopping without some help other than the occasional short trip to the grocery store! Cora did so well. She was awake the whole time and never got fussy. She did talk a lot, rather loudly. She was attracting a lot of attention! :)

Here are some pictures from the last week.

Joshua was checking out Jeremy's book on UT Football - I promise he found it on his own and started trying to get it out! We thought this was pretty funny since he comes from a family of UK fans. ;)

Joshua playing with Cora's rattle. We don't have too many masculine toys...

Saying hello to Lucas! It was really funny, Joshua was playing with the surround sound remote control and laid it in the cat bed with Lucas. What a nice guy, sharing his toys!

Cora Leigh is still loving her feet!

She somehow managed to get her foot stuck in the toy. She has done it again since.

I think Cora is ready for her cake!!

Cora's first solid food!

Here are several short video clips of our first "solid" food experience with Cora Leigh (though it was really more liquid than solid...). The video that we took was 20 minutes long, so we picked out some of what we thought were the best moments. :) I hope you enjoy!

Happy Half-Birthday Cora Leigh!

Today Cora Leigh celebrates her 6-month birthday! It is really hard to believe that she's been a part of our family for 6 months already, but at the same time, I can hardly remember what our life was like before she was here with us. She has been such a blessing! Today is not only her birthday, but we also are starting solid foods today. She's been on a strict breastmilk diet, so tonight we are going to introduce her to rice cereal. We plan on taking a video of her first solid food experience which we will post later. These pictures that I took of her today were just too cute to wait to post! :)

More fun with Cora Leigh

In the past week, Cora Leigh has discovered her feet. Now every time, without exception, that I change her diaper, she grabs her feet! She has successfully put them in her mouth from time to time. :)

She is getting to be more and more active and fun! She seems to be such a happy baby which makes a momma feel good. Here are some more recent pics of our growing girl.

Almost every afternoon, she spends some time in her Bumbo seat while I work on dinner. I love these little jeans!

We had an empty RC Cola bottle waiting to be taken to the recycling can that Cora spotted and was determined to get. It was the biggest bottle she'd ever seen! :) And as an aside, I had forgotten how good RC Cola was! I just bought it because it was on sale.

Jeremy and I also celebrated our 6-year wedding anniversary last Saturday, on March 6th. Laura Probus was nice enough to watch Cora Leigh for us while we went to play some disc golf! We had a really fun time together. It was really nice to get out and get some fresh air. God blessed us with a beautiful day! Jeremy actually played pretty well considering how long it's been. I scored about 10 strokes higher than my usual score, and my usual score is nothing to brag about. I just like to think of all the exercising I got in with all those extra throws!

Here's a pic of Cora in her swing. I put her in there while I was taking the dog outside after we got back from our disc golf trip. When I came back in, she was stretching her arms out trying to grab the little lambs on the mobile. It was so cute! But of course, she stopped when I got the camera out. :)

And the last picture is of Cora Leigh on Sunday morning. She looked so cute in her little jumper and bright pink shoes! We also got a cute video of Cora in one of her excited moods the other day that you'll see at the bottom of the page.
