Busy Easter Weekend

We had a fun but busy Easter weekend.  We began the fun on Friday evening by having our friends, Courtney and Amy, over for dinner and games.  As it turns out, we also got to celebrate the news that Courtney got a full-time teaching job at Western Kentucky University next year!  We had a scrumptious hot dog/smoked turkey sausage dog dinner and then took advantage of the beautiful weather and played some cornhole!  Here's Cora sitting on her blanket outside enjoying the fresh air.

Here are some pics of us showing our cornhole skills. Jeremy and I won, but it was a really close game!

Here's a video of Courtney making Cora Leigh laugh

Saturday, we began the day with a rehearsal at church. Here's a picture of Cora napping that afternoon.

We began veggies Saturday afternoon and started with peas. Here's a video of Cora's first encounter with the peas and a couple of pics to follow.

Saturday evening, we went to Andy and Dana Waldroup's for a Final Four party. Though none of us really had any particular interest in the game, we really enjoyed the company! We enjoyed watching the kiddos play. Scott and Kristen Talley's little girl, Kayla, will be 2 this summer. She was a hoot! She loved it when Dana would help her do a somersault, and eventually she did it on her own for the first time. She would also periodically go up to Scott and Kristen and say, "I'm funny." :) Joshua, who just turned 1 year old, was also a lot of fun to watch as he carried around his ball. It was really neat to see the differences since all the kids were at different stages. Here are a couple of pics of playtime.

We began our Easter Sunday a little earlier than usual. We had two services at church and had to play for both. We were scared to dress Cora too early, so she got to sit in her bathrobe while we finished getting ready.

Cora Leigh looked adorable in her Easter dress. We had bought the dress and hat at a second hand store. We didn't realize at the time that the dress was size 6-12 months and the matching hat was 18-24 months. Cora has a big head, but not that big!

Here's a picture of Cora and her daddy after church Sunday morning. We had to be back at church at 5:30 that evening and play for the evening service. Poor Cora was just exhausted by the end of the day! Jeremy and I have decided that we're going to have to limit ourselves a little more. It's just too hard on our baby girl! Luckily, we were able to relax and recuperate today.

We did have a nice brief visit with my Uncle Don and his wife Lynn today. They live in Omaha, so we don't get to see them very often at all! They had been in Chattanooga to visit our family over the weekend, so they decided to go a little out of their way to come by today to visit with Cora and me. We had a really good visit, and they seemed to really enjoy Cora Leigh! Cora kept reaching for Uncle Don's hat, so he decided he would put it on her...said we wouldn't tell her daddy. :)

Lynn had Cora absolutely cracking up! Too bad she lost some of her peas on her later. :)

  1. Peas were one of Addie's first veggies in baby food...and they are now one of her favorite foods all together:-)

Glad you guys had a great Easter! We were in a similar situation with praise band Sunday morning, but Addie did okay in her dress (thank goodness!). I know exactly what you mean about dressing them too soon.
